Vaporizing Inhaler Art
Models, from 1996 |
The early Flash Evaporator models had solid-state-controlled lighting effects. |
|
|
"Fire with Green & Red" was the top-end Flash Evaporator. The solid-state controlled ring of light around the base goes through a lighting cycle that begins with monochromatic green followed by brilliant monochromatic red and then fiery orange that fades slowly back to pure green in a one-minute cycle. |
| When the heating element (located at the top, in the
center of the brass support ring) is in the ON mode, two
spotlights, one red and one yellow, shine onto the hot receptacle
into which the stem (foreground) is inserted during use. |
| "Temporal Ribbon" had a brass base with a solid-state controlled ring of yellow light around it. The yellow light is actually made of red and green light, alternating 54 times each second; when the base is moved through the air in a dark setting, it sweeps out a ribbon of alternating green and red light. When the unit is turned ON (i.e., when the heating element is turned on), the ring of light can be set on monochromatic red or green, according to your mood. |

The mahogany hand-held heater contains internal red light-emitting diodes which light up when the heater is sitting on the brass base and receiving electric energy. The mahogany heater is shown here removed from the base, along with the stem and its holder. The white tip of the stem is a nylon mouthpiece. |
Basic Pure Vapor in the OFF mode radiates green light from the color band on the brass base. When the unit is ON, the color band turns red while red light also radiates from inside the mahogany hand-held heater. |
The aesthetic designs as well as the physical-science aspects of these three objets d'art represent 20 years of research covered by multiple United States Patents. |
